Tuft & Needle Mattress Review – Dr. Jenkins

Dotcom Design • Jan 31, 2019

One of things I get asked about frequently is which mattress is best. This is a tough question, as we don’t really learn anything about mattresses in our eight years of school. Over the years I have heard patients opinions on various mattresses which has helped me form some opinions, but I still didn’t have an answer when patients asked me what to buy. I believe now I do.

A few months back, I was talking with a fellow chiropractor and he said he finally found one he trusts to recommend to his patient, he actually said he ordered three for his own house. That mattress is theTuft & Needle mattress. I looked it up, and it just so happens to be the highest rated mattress on Amazon in the world. Before I would recommend it to anyone, I needed to try it out myself (we needed a new mattress anyways). I’ll tell you what I think, but I want to first tell you about the unboxing.

It comes shipped to your door, no strapping it on top your car! Also, the price of shipping is included in the purchase price. DidI mention the price? The Tuft & Needle is much cheaper than really any other quality mattress. A king size is only $750. I’ve had patients tell me they spent thousands on a new bed.

The bed comes shipped in a box, which is weird. I mean how does a king size mattress fit in a box? The mattress is flattened thin and rolled up really tight so that it can be shipped. Once you remove the first layer of plastic, it unfolds flat. Even then it is only a couple inches thick. My wife was still having doubts at this point. After you have it in place, you cut into the second layer of plastic wrapping, and suddenly the thing starts to expand rapidly. Within a few minutes you have a normal size mattress. The first thing I wondered was if it would actually be firm since it looked like a piece of foam. It actually felt too firm the first few nights.

Well we put the sheets on and went to bed. Here is whatI think so far. This is a great mattress. It isn’t so soft that you sink in and offer little support, nor is it too firm that it creates pressure points. It has not started to sink in where we sleep, and they claim that this mattress will stand up for years. The Tuft & Needle is just a great all around mattress that I think everyone would appreciate. Even better, it is made here in America, so you don’t have to worry about any dangerous“made in China” materials. For the price and quality, I couldn’t imaging buying anything else.

They have a great  website that you should look at. Tuft& Needle also has a neat little video on how mattress manufacturers have been overcharging you for years. Let me know if you get one! Here is also a link to this mattress and some pillows I recommend on my website here .

2022 Update:  Prices and selection have changed over the year.  As of November 2022, I still have my original mattress I wrote about in this review!
