Can chiropractic care help with epilepsy?

Epilepsy and chiropractic care
First, we want to say if you or someone you are close to has epilepsy then we are sorry to hear this. We know this is one health issue that isn’t talked about enough. For some, this can make life extremely difficult. The brain is something we are learning about every day. Some of the most significant discoveries have been made in the last 10 years. Unfortunately, there is much we don’t know.
Epilepsy is a brain disorder that causes seizures. There is a variety of reasons why these happen, but the main issue is excessive neuronal discharges. We have seen several patients come through that have experienced this medical condition. One of ours is kind enough to share that he tried multiple medications and they were not able to control them. It wasn't until he started seeing a chiropractor that. “I realized these medications were treating the symptoms but not the cause. I had to find the reason why and fix it. I wanted a solution, not a band-aid.” He found our office and he is proud to say he has been seizure free since 2019.
Beacon of Life chiropractic does an amazing job explaining how chiropractors help with epilepsy. “When it comes to seizures, chiropractic treatments focus on the Vagus Nerve. This nerve is located at the base of the skull. Adjustments to this upper cervical area stimulate the nerve while spinal adjustments correct spinal subluxations, which can pinch nerves and interfere with proper nerve function. Reducing these types of nerve interference also reduces neuronal stimuli in the brain. This allows the brain to function better and decreases the likelihood of the excessive neuronal discharges which cause seizures.”
