Ear infections can be extremely painful, for children and adults. For infants, there doesn’t seem to be much you can do to help with the pain, and the drops sold in store are not recommended for children under 2. If you look online, there are numerous recipes for ear drops you can make at home, which can be overwhelming. Our little one had recently had an irritated ear, and we used the following easy recipe we made at home. It only requires two ingredients, olive oil and garlic.

Ingredients :

5 cloves garlic (minced)

1/4 cup olive oil

Directions :

Heat the olive oil on medium heat, below smoking temperature. Add the garlic, and let simmer 15 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool. Strain the garlic out and transfer to a clean, sealable container. Make sure the container has no moisture in it as this can cause the drops to spoil. To administer, warm (test temperature before use) a small amount of the liquid and using a dropper, put 3-4 drops in each affected ear. For babies this can be done during feeding, they won’t even notice.

That’s it. This worked great for our child, he seemed to calm down quickly. Have you tried this or something similar? Let us know.
